The Atlanta Children’s Shelter provides a total family service model exclusively to homeless families with young children under the age of 6. Prior to official enrollment into the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, families must be staying in a homeless shelter at the time of intake with a child between the ages of 6 weeks – 6 years. Children older than 6 are ineligible.
Families interested in enrolling with the Atlanta Children’s Shelter can call 404-892-3713 and ask to speak to the Case Manager to schedule an intake.
The Atlanta Children’s Shelter has 50 child slots through its Early Childhood Education Program. The shelter maintains a waiting list when it reaches its capacity of 50 children. When a space becomes available, parents are contacted in the order in which they applied.
Prior to the first day of enrollment parents must submit the following:
- Current shelter letter on agency letterhead, signed by a program staff member
- Immunization records for each enrolled child
- Birth Certificate and Social Security Card for parent and each enrolled child
- State ID or Driver’s License for parent
