The Atlanta Children’s Shelter (ACS) will host its annual Women’s Giving Luncheon on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 11:30 am- 1 pm. The luncheon connects, empowers, and inspires executive leaders in Atlanta’s business community to make an impact through philanthropy. This year, the event will be held in person at Magnolia Hall in Piedmont Park.

The event’s theme is “All Roads Lead Home” and will highlight how the ever expanding Keys to Independence Program has created a foundation for ACS parents to attain permanent housing for their families. The event will focus on all the successes the Achievers and Legacy Honorees have had in different avenues of their life culminating in securing permanent housing. We will also hear a testimony from our current Keys to Independence transitional housing participant, Ms. Bridget Milam. The 2022 Women’s Giving Luncheon will honor Achievers, Karen Thomas, Iman McCullough, along with Legacy Honorees, Chiquita Adams and Terry Deshommes.

Award-winning journalist and host of Closer Look on NPR – WABE, Rose Scott will host a Fireside Chat with the Legacy Honorees at the event. Rose will sit down with Ms. Adams and Mr. Deshommes to unpack their journey out of homelessness and into permanent housing. Rose Scott has over two decades of reporting in Atlanta, interviewing numerous elected officials and civic and social leaders covering education, minority health issues, gender issues and sports.

“Locating affordable housing in Atlanta has become a crisis. To increase access to housing, the Atlanta Children’s Shelter is launching its first ever direct housing program,” says Sandra Holiday, Executive Director. “We feel it is critical to raise awareness about this crisis through our women’s luncheon and also share how supporters can join ACS in being part of the housing solution for the homeless families it serves.”  Registration for the event will open Monday, April 4th at acsatl.org, and there is no cost to attend. Guests can join us for lunch while hearing personal testimonials from the Achievers and Legacy Honorees about their journey out of homelessness to self-sufficiency with the assistance of the Atlanta Children’s Shelter.
