The Power of One: Make a Positive Impact on Your Community with Individual Volunteer Opportunities at the Atlanta Children’s ShelterTeam Leaders: Support the Development Department with event planning and event execution which includes scheduling volunteers and coordinating volunteer teams on event days for our annual 5K Run/Walk and Holiday House. Team Leaders have a general working knowledge of our organization’s mission and provide high level administrative support. Program Assistant (Volunteer Program): Assists Development Coordinator with executing the volunteer program at ACS. Some of the responsibilities include: “Learning the message” of ACS, responding to phone calls and emails, entering information into our volunteer database, and regularly updating the volunteer calendar. The Volunteer Program Assistant helps facilitate Volunteer Orientation and assists with scheduling tours and general clerical duties. This opportunity requires a minimum of 6 hours per week Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and is a great chance to see how managing a vibrant volunteer program works. Program Assistant (Social Services): Assists the Social Services Department with employment workshops, resume writing, financial counseling and life skills workshops that support our families as they move towards self-sufficiency. This opportunity requires a minimum of 4 hours per week Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Program Assistant (Development): Assists mainly with grant and fundraising research and writing. This opportunity requires a minimum of 4 hours per week Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Job Track Program: Provides administrative support to Employment Counselor and supports Job Track participants with computer navigation, online job search and other job ready activities. This opportunity requires a minimum of 4 hours per week Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Front Desk: Provides support and coverage for our front desk which includes greeting parents, volunteers, answering phones and receiving donations. This opportunity requires a minimum of 2 hours per week Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Critical coverage times are from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Classrooms: Assists teachers in the classrooms with the activities outlined for the day (i.e. arts and crafts, story time, field trips, small group activities, etc.). This opportunity requires a minimum of 3 hours per week Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. |
