Service to Atlanta Homeless Children Since 1986

Since 1986, the Atlanta Children's Shelter, Inc. has provided loving day shelter for Atlanta homeless children and support for their family's efforts to be self-sufficient.

As the first year-round childcare program for homeless families in the state, the Shelter is a model program whose programs are oriented around: 1) the care of children, 2) support of families, and 3) advocacy and networking. The Shelter's child care staff, social workers, and volunteers provide hope, love and reassurance along with daily meals, nutritional snacks, clothing, medical attention, enrichment activities, field trips and educational activities for up to 40 children a day. The goal is to help families achieve long term self-sufficiency - to break the cycle of homelessness permanently.
