ATLANTA, April 4, 2011 – The Atlanta Children’s Shelter (ACS) is pleased to welcome Ms. Nadia Payne as its new Childcare Director. A graduate of East Carolina University and George Mason University, Ms. Payne is currently attending Clark Atlanta University, where she is pursuing a doctorate of Education Leadership. Ms. Payne holds a K-12 School Leaders License from the Department of Education and is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, National Council on Family Relations, and the Southern Early Childhood Association. Ms. Payne brings to ACS eight years of experience operating private licensed daycare centers. She joins ACS from KinderCare, where she was a center director, and from whom she received numerous awards for excellence, including 2009 Center Director of the Year. ACS Executive Director Sandy Keating welcomed the appointment of Ms. Payne, saying, “Nadia’s expertise and commitment to excellence in education will further strengthen the foundation upon which the children in our program can grow and thrive as we successfully prepare them to enter kindergarten.” Ms. Payne believes that building relationships is a key element of her new role, and she starts each day in the classrooms. “I draw energy from the children, and I need them to help my day get off to a great start! They never let me down, and I won’t let them down either,” says Ms. Payne. “I truly believe as JFK so eloquently stated that, ‘Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.’ My team and I are committed to nurturing these precious resources and always including our families in their child’s learning experiences.” Ms. Payne joined the Atlanta Children’s Shelter on March 21, 2011 and ACS looks forward to strengthening its childcare program under her leadership.
