By Shelia M. Poole Turner Construction Co. and subcontractors marked the "topping out" of a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention office building by making a $23,500 donation to the Atlanta Children's Shelter. The topping out is considered a construction milestone and means the last beam is placed at the top of a building. The donation was made by Turner, it's design partner, tvsdesign, and about 40 subcontractors. The CDC Building 24 project is a 313,000-square-foot building that will house CDC offices and meeting facilities, according to a release about the project. The Atlanta Children's Shelter was founded in 1986 and provides assistance and services for homeless children and their families. |
