In 2010, The Atlanta Children’s Shelter provided childcare and support services to 69 families of 106 children and 78 parents.

Family Characteristics:

  • 81% of Families are headed by Single Mothers
  • 43% of Families Report a History of Domestic Violence
  • 38% of Families Report Loss of Employment as the Direct Cause of their Homelessness
  • The Average Age of Parents is 30
  • The Average Family Size is 3.2
  • The Average Length of Enrollment is 7 months

 

SUCCESS RATE

In 2010, 65% of Atlanta Children’s Shelter parents obtained and maintained employment.

For the families who remained in our programs through Aftercare in 2010, 100% remained housed for the entire year.
