A Strong Advocate For The Homeless

Homelessness has many different faces. The man on the street corner, the woman with a shopping cart holding all her worldly possessions, and the family or single parent with small children who have recently been evicted, or are victims of domestic abuse.

There are 1.5 million children in the U.S. who experience homelessness each year, almost half are under the age of 6, and more than 58,000 homeless children live in Georgia. Awareness is the first of many steps in helping homeless families achieve self sufficiency.

One of the values of the Atlanta Children’s Shelter is to help raise awareness of the needs of homeless families and work to shape public policy towards helping these families.
