GRANT WRITER


POSITION: GRANT WRITER

JOB SUMMARY:   
The Atlanta Children’s Shelter seeks a full-time Grant Writer to join the development team. The individual selected will identify, define and develop funding sources to support service delivery and the general operating budget as well as perform the development, writing and submission of grant proposals. Position reports to the Development Director.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:  
Under general direction, researches, organizes and writes grant proposals for corporate, foundation and government grants. Coordinates production and timely submission of grant proposals as well as monitors grant status and reporting. Responsible for donor database management and data integrity including gift acknowledgments as needed. Provides support for planning and execution of fundraising events. Work is performed under the direction of the Development Director.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree is required and the ability to excel in a collaborative work environment. Qualified candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint), be highly organized, able to work effectively under pressure and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints.

This position requires a criminal background check.

PREFERRED:
Previous grant writing experience is preferred. Previous experience with non-profits and fundraising software as well as knowledge of the homeless population is also preferred.
